born in hong kong raised near boston highschool in ireland limerick to dublin dublin to a tour van few years later i live in nashville Not really being from anywhere has it’s benefits. There is a refreshing perspective that comes when there is no one place you call home. Born in Hong Kong and having grown up between Ireland and Boston to an Irish father and Australian mother, it really isn’t surprising that he finds it hard to stay in one place for too long. “My parents met on a plane, so being a vagabond was always in my genes….” In Kiernan signed his first record deal with Warner Brother’s sub label records. The record was released in November during a time when the music industry’s financial crisis was in full swing. Every day was it’s own story” With nothing but a hiking bag and his guitar he hitched and bussed the length of the east coast and midwest playing shows every other day. Fast forward to now and you find Kiernan with a van and an impressive musical resume. Having shared stages with everyone from Mat Kearney, Ed Sheeran, Sheryl Crow, Colbie Callait, Sublime, Lisa Hannigan and The Proclaimers to name just a few. Takamine
You may well know him. He's played over 2, shows worldwide including three critically-acclaimed SXSW performances, shared the stage with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Mat Kearney and Dave Mason, and was recently (but not surprisingly) named one of Alternate Press Magazine's "12 Bands You Need to Know for ". But if you haven't met, his name is Kiernan McMullan, and armed with an EFS-AN and fierce talent, he continues to earn the kind of global grassroots following that lifelong careers are made of.
Born in Hong Kong to an Irish father and Australian mother, Kiernan's travel-lust is deeply embedded in his DNA. He performed in every corner of Ireland, appearing at festivals, theaters, bars, and coffee shops before signing with Records (Warner) and making the move to the U.S., then releasing his critically acclaimed album "Common Sense". Kiernan has since maintained a solid touring schedule, playing over shows a year.
As previously mentioned, Kiernan's primary touring and songwriting partner is a Takamine EFS-AN that he purchased ten years ago.
