Donald Tai Loy Ho[1] (simplified Chinese: 何大来; traditional Chinese: 何大來; pinyin: Hé Dàlái; August 13, 1930 – April 14, 2007) was a Hawaiiantraditional pop musician, singer, and entertainer. He is best known for the song "Tiny Bubbles" from the 1966 album of the same name.
Early life, family and education
[edit]Ho was a singer of Native Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, and German descent.[2] He was born in the small Honolulu neighborhood of Kakaʻako to Emily (Honey) Leimaile Silva and James Ah You Puao Ho, but he grew up in Kāneʻohe on the windward side of the island of Oʻahu.
He was a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools in 1949 and he attended Springfield College on a football scholarship in 1950, but he returned home to earn a Bachelor's degree in sociology at University of Hawaiʻi in 1953.

It's time for a warm breeze to blow through - no, not the kind you get during a Nor'easter.
After a week of getting bombarded by news about campus shootings and deadly storms, we're looking for a topic that goes down as easy as a pina colada. (This is not to say that campus shootings and deadly storms aren't major news events; it's just to say we need a break.)
So this week's Surf's Up is dedicated to the memory of Don Ho, the Hawaiian singer who embodied smooth, no-worries, tourist-pleasing island entertainment.
